Today is the day folks! It’s September 8th and that means only one thing! Well two things…. The Canon 5DMK4 and the Fuji XT2 are out today!
Will Paul take the leap? Will Dave go through with yet another trade in? All will be revealed in this slightly longer than normal episode that was actually recorded over the course of a few days.

Aside from the camera news there is also some talk on Apple’s latest Keynote where they launched some new shiny stuff. Paul’s eyes get all glazed over.

So, listen in and enjoy as you’re about to hear two very hyper guys. It’s almost like taking a peek into what it must be like on Christmas morning – only with better than average presents. (Presents we’ve bought ourselves mind you.. Being a grown up sucks).

Thanks so much for downloading this podcast and we hope you enjoy listening as much as we did recording it. Oh and sorry it took so long to be published, we’ve both been busy boys with weddings recently. We promise that episode 7 will have no where near the same wait time.

We’d love for you to leave any questions or comments either in the blog below, or at our Soundcloud Page . You can also email us at hello@rawpodcast.com if you want to be a little bit more private about it.

Thanks again for listening folks and please subscribe.

Hi folks and welcome back to the Raw Podcast!

For episode 5 we decided to meet in Ikea. Dave needed to sort out a Kitchen and Paul never misses an opportunity for some Swedish meatballs.

So we meet in the canteen over coffee and said meatballs and decided to record our latest episode there and then.

Topics covered this week are….
The new Fuji 23mm F2. Dave is excited about this as it’s a quite similar to the 23 1.4 that he has but much smaller with a quicker autofocus. It’s also water resistant. Ireland is a wet place. Bonus.

Paul is excited about the new Apple Watch and iPhone launch that will take place on the 7th September. More of that in the next episode for sure.

For this weeks main topic of conversation we are discussing what applications we could not do without. So, drumroll.

1. For Office Admin

7. Email Apps.

A couple of notable exceptions that we totally forgot about.
Paul loves this weather app on his iPhone called Dark Sky. It’s not available on Android (at least not in Ireland). Gives you rain notifications that are accurate almost to the minute.

Another app that really should have been mentioned is Sync Folders Pro. Dave uses this for backups. There are a ton of various sync options if you want to tweak things to your liking but basically Dave likes to clone his drives. When it comes to keeping your images backing up is probably the number one priority out there so if this is the one thing your not doing yet then you need to get on it.

If you have any great apps that your using or would like us to try out then please let us know. We love a new app so don’t hesitate to share your favs with us and the other listeners.

Hi folks! We’re back with Episode 4 of Raw Podcast! Thanks for joining us!

This week our main topic of conversation is surrounding the release of the Canon 5D Mark IV. Is Paul excited? Is he bursting with joy to get his hands on the new machine from Canon or is it all a little underwhelming… Maybe Dave will switch camera system again, who knows.

Aside from the above we have a few more small bits of info and an explanation about where the heck we’ve been. And also an apology from Dave yes thats right.. an apology, over Voxergate. We also chat about a game that Dave spotted on an Instagram stories called Oxenfree the link is below.

Here are some articles we mentioned on the Canon 5D Mark IV.

Hi folks! We’re back with Episode 3 of Raw Podcast! Thanks for joining us!

This week our main topic of conversation is surrounding destination weddings. The lust for, the meh’ness towards them, the pros, cons and a few other bits and pieces. Paul is just back from Rome after shooting a wedding there so he comes with some good first hand experience and a tan.

Aside from that we start off with a discussion about Instagram Stories – after all, it’s this week’s biggest …story. story… instagram stor.i.e… ah forget it. Anyway – we discuss that as well as Snapchat and a whole new app that Paul has developed called Slapchat – fascinating stuff.

We also did a little bit of a Q&A in response to a few questions that you good people posed to us via my instagram. But we received another great question on Soundcloud from Rockabillyslim asking “Are you using the dedicated flash unit that comes with it or does it work with other speedlights with full ettl. The flash seems quite small so just wondering about the throw say if your trying to light larger areas.”
In response to that I mention what I’m using and also a couple of articles.
Best Speedlight Flash Options for Fujifilm Mirrorless Cameras – http://improvephotography.com/34962/best-flash-for-fuji/
Kevin Mullins Article – How I Fell In Love With Flash – http://f16.click/gear/neewer-tt850-fuji-x100t.html

Here is the equipment that I’m using.
Yongnuo Flash Speedlite YN560-III – http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00DRVC1I8
Great flash but no ettl.

Yongnuo RF-602 Wireless Flash Trigger – http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00AB7NN9W
It says this is for Nikon but it works perfectly with the Fuji system.

I also have these ones but these are the ones I mentioned in the podcast as being a bit rubbish.

Hello and welcome back! This is episode 2 of Raw Podcast. Thanks so much for returning and giving us another shot and if you’re brand new to this little podcast of ours then we love it if you’d give episode 1 a listen too. If you are a podcast lover and use a podcast app then we’d love it even more if you’d subscribe and that way you’ll be able to stay up to date with all future releases.

Hopefully you’ll find this particular episode that little bit more professional than the first. We’ve upped our equipment game and Paul has taken things to a whole other level with mics, mic stands and we each wore a set of (what he likes to call) cans. I’ll stick with headphones…
Episode 2 photo
So – loaded with fresh coffee, a bowl of haribo’s, lemon cupcakes and Reeces peanut butter cups we launchd into this week’s episode with sugared up gusto and here is what we covered.

The discussion this week revolves around the switch I made from using full frame DSLR bodies (Nikon D750) to the Fujifilm X-Pro2
Along that conversation path here are the various things we talked about.
So we started at the beginning and what made me move from Canon to Nikon. This review from Ross Harvey was pretty much to blame for that.
Ross Harvey’s D750 Review

Then we discussed my path from there. I did have a love affair with the X-T1 for quite sometime. My biggest post ever was when myself and my wife drove Route 66 on our honeymoon and using just the X-T1 and the 23mm 1.4 you can see the results of that here.
My Honeymoon – All taken with the Fujifilm X-T1

So – here are the Dave’s various Fuji Cameras.
Fujifilm X-T1
Fujifilm X100T
Fujifilm X-Pro2
Fujifilm X70
and the lenses
14mm 2.8
23mm 1.4
35mm 2.0
56mm 1.2

We also made mention of the Fujifilm X-T2 that is coming out in early September. Check it out here. WANT!

Holdfast System – Cool as it is I stepped away from it once I went to mirrorless.

Peak Design Slidelite specifically designed for smaller camera bodies. I can’t recommend this camera strap enough. It’s super comfortable and so easy to adjust to make shorter or longer given the circumstance.

Spider Holster – I like the Black Widow version best as it’s discreet.

If you’d like to see some of the weddings Dave has shot since making the switch to the X-Pro2 then you’re in luck. Here are a few that he’s blogged so far.
This was the first one and all shot in JPEG.
http://davidmcclelland-photography.com/xpro-2-wedding-ghotel
And the following were all shot in RAW.
Eoin and Julie at Rathsallagh House
Amy and Richard at Lisnavagh House
Ruth and Gary at Clonabreany House

And that is pretty much it folks. That’s it folks. I hope you enjoyed that.
Feel free to leave a comment below and if there is anything you’d like us to talk about then we’d love to hear your suggestions.

Then we did some tech rambles on this.
DJI Phantom 4
And the video we mentioned that I put together can we watched on my vimeo channel or below

And then we talked about the gorgeous little Fujifilm X70
You may like to check out some of the review we liked for the camera and helped persuade us to part with our money.
Kevin Mullins – http://f16.click/social-documentary-photography/fuji-x70-first-look.html
Jonas Rask – https://jonasraskphotography.com/2016/01/15/the-fujifilm-x70-review/
Turned out that Steve Huff didn’t review this camera. Why not Steve? So anyway, it was probably the Jonas Rask or then Kevin Mullins review that Paul liked.

And that’s pretty much it for our first show folks. Short and swe… well. Short.
